Joseph C. Gray
Joseph C. Gray, 63, of Cape Coral died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Hope Hospice. He was born on May 13, 1946, the son of Percival and Mary Dwyer Gray, now deceased.
He grew up in Milton, Mass., and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He graduated from Boston University in 1972. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 21 years before moving from Cohasset, Mass., to Cape Coral in 2003. He then worked for the city of Cape Coral until his death; he was due to retire in three weeks.
Mr. Gray attended the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and returned in 1994 and 1999 for the 25th and 30th anniversary concerts. He was especially fond of San Francisco, where he attended numerous concerts over the years. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Carter Gray, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1989; his son, Christopher Gray of Quincy, Mass.; his daughter, Lisa Shea of Hyannis, Mass.; three grandchildren, Kyle Gray and Shannon and Theresa Shea; a great-grandson, Vincent; his brother, Jack Gray of Delaware; his canine companions, Beau and Maxine; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and a Celebration of his Life will be held on Monday, May 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the National Cremation Society at 3453 Hancock Bridge Parkway, North Fort Myers.
