Charles S. Stine

Charles S. Stine, 91, passed away Feb. 10, 2010, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 2007.

He was born on July 3, 1918, in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles an Opal Stine. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo in 1937. He served his country in World War II with the U.S. Navy Air Corp.

He and his wife, Doris, were residents of Cape Coral and Fort Myers, Fla., since 1980. He was a field sales representative for 55 years in the automotive parts and plumbing supply industry. He retired from Construction Glass Industry Sales. He was a past commander and life member of Conn-Weissenberger Post 587 in Toledo. He volunteered at the Cape Coral Kiwanis Thrift Store for 18 years and Cape Coral Hospital for three years. He was a member of the Cape Coral Cruise Club for 19 years. He was a member of Lochmoor Country Club, Palmetto Pine Country Club and Herons Glen Country Club. He had been a member of North Cape Yacht Club, sailing on Lake Erie for many years before retiring to Florida.

He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. He was a very loving and wise father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly Mr. Stine is survived by his children, Carla Ryder (Charles) of Fort Myers, Bonnie Stine of Toledo, John Stine (Vicki) of Lake-In-The-Hills, Ill., Rick Hires of Toledo and Karen Knowles (Robert) of Toledo; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Betty Stine of Toledo; and special friend, Dee Fiala of Cape Coral.
