John Paul Patton

John Paul Patton, 89, of Cape Coral, died Dec. 4, 2009.

He graduated from Morehead University after which he served in the military during WWII in the European Theater of Operations in the 9th Air Force 391 St Bomb Group. He was later employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, as a federal employee at the Civilian Air Force Research and Development Command where he rendered 34 years of faithful service. While living in Ohio, he was very active a the Dayton Baptist Temple where he served as deacon, sang in the choir and ministered in many other areas for many years. After retirement he worked with several service organizations in Dayton, Ohio, such as Sertoma (service to mankind) and FISH, helping to meet the physical and social needs of many.

In 1987 he and his wife, Miriam, moved to Cape Coral. There he enjoyed working in his garden among the beautiful flowers. He was a member of McGregor Baptist Church where he served in many different capacities. Especially close to his heart was his Sunday School class, the Go-Getters.

He was the beloved husband of Miriam A Patton; loving father of Lynne Glenn and Dr. W. Douglas Patton (Marianne); the beloved grandfather of five grandchildren, Michelle Datillo, Allison Mineer (Grant), Lindsey Wegley, Ashley Coyne (Jon) and John Douglas Patton. He also is survived by three sisters, one brother, and four great-grandchildren as well as many loving friends.

Visitation will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7. The funeral will follow.

Burial will be at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.
