Josephine C. Murphy
Josephine C. Murphy, 70, of Cape Coral and Dowagiac, Mich., formerly of Chicago, Ill., passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009. She was born Nov. 25, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of Catherine Walsh Hackett and the late John Merrill Hackett.
She is a retired educator, having retired from the city of Chicago School System in 1993 after 25 years of faithful and dedicated service.
She has resided in Cape Coral since 1997, coming from Oak Lawn, Ill. She was a member of the United Irish Club of SW Florida and attended St. Andrew Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Patrick Murphy of Cape Coral and Dowagiac, Mich.; children, Debra Murphy of Gilberts, Ill., Sean M. (Kathy) Murphy of Huntley, Ill., and Daniel J. (Kimberly) Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Riley Ann Murphy and Shane Michael Murphy, both of Huntley, Ill., and Kyle Patrick Murphy and Cole Riley Murphy, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; mother, Catherine Hackett of Orland Park, Ill.; brothers, John M. (Maryann) Hackett of Tinley Park, Ill., and James (Julie) Hackett of Kennesaw, Ga.; and sisters, Marilyn (Thomas) Roche of Naples, Patricia (Gordon) Harvey of Orland Park, Ill., and Susan (John) Goss of Key West.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
