Betty Broadbent
Betty Broadbent,88, peacefully passed to eternal life on Friday. Nov. 20, 2009. Betty is survived by her children Pat Pardo, Kathy McCreary (Ron), Janie Hooker (Skip), J.R. Broadbent (Diane), Obie Broadbent (Cora), her brother Bill Burger, sister Dorothy Eckerd, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gene and granddaughter Kelly Katz.
The Broadbents lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Grand Bahama Island, but always called Florida their home having lived in Coral Gables, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Ocala, Cape Coral and their most loved, Sanibel/Captiva Islands where they were one of the early families in the 1950s and always returned throughout their lives.
Many thanks to the wonderful, caring staff of Calusa Harbour Assisted Living who got to know “Miss Betty” in her final years and provided loving care in her last days.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 24 at Trinity Community Church at 2756 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donation be made in her name to Trinity Community Church, Alvin S. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center or Hope Hospice.
