John Blair
John Blair, 84, passed away Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, after a valiant 4 1/2-year battle with cancer. He was born in Scotland.
He relocated with his family to New York at age 4. He served in the Navy as a radioman during World War II. He then attended Bradley University, where he met his wife of 60 years Gladys.
He served in the Air Force for 22 years as a fighter pilot through the Vietnam War. Upon retiring from active duty service, he worked with Civil Service for 20 years writing technical publication manuals for the Navy.
He enjoyed his retired years as a wood worker, serving Faith Presbyterian Church as clerk of session and a choir member, and spending time with his wife, four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Faith Presbyterian Church.
