Carroll William Hynes
Carroll William Hynes, of Charlotte, N.C., died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home following a six-year battle with a terminal illness. He was born Dec. 24, 1934, in Baltimore, Md., to Ed and Evelyn Hynes.
He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic High School, then moved west to California for work as a draftsman at Rohr Aircraft. There he met and married his wife, Nancy, before returning to Maryland to raise his family.
During that time, he created a thriving residential construction business that enabled him to retire at an early age and relocate to Cape Coral.
He enjoyed several hobbies including flying, restoring antique automobiles, model railroading, raising birds, building ship models and, more recently, gardening – particularly roses, in memory of his late wife.
He is survived by his son, Dale (Tamia) and their children, Craig and Cynthia; son, Scott (Stephanie) and their dogs; and sister, Victoria.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 7 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Charlotte, N.C.
Arrangements by McEwen Pineville Chapel.
