Joanne Brooks Dobstaff
Joanne Brooks Dobstaff, 79, of Cape Coral, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at Hospice House North in Cape Coral. She was born May 4, 1930, in Batavia, N.Y., a daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen Hyde Brooks.
She graduated from Buffalo State University in Buffalo, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science in home economics.
She was a minister’s wife and was very active with her husband in religious education and with the youth of the church. She also was a counselor to many adults.
Her pride and joy was her family and her home. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her flowers. She also worked many years as a dietician. She really enjoyed the many hours of volunteering she did, everything from scouting to assisting others.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, the Rev. Harold Dobstaff of Cape Coral; sons, Daniel (Irene) Dobstaff of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and David (Beth) Dobstaff of Austintown, Ohio; daughters, Mary Dobstaff of Cape Coral and Susan (Bryan) Howe of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Meagan, Melissa, Christopher, Alexa and Shannon; and sister, Nancy (Donald) Schroeder of Marietta, Ga.
The family will conduct services, which will be private.
