Sister Karinne O’Malley
Sister Karinne O’Malley, 80, of the Order of Preachers, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009. Born Oct. 25, 1928, in Chicago, Ill, she was named Marguerite at birth.
She entered the Sinsinawa Dominican Novitiate in 1949 and made profession as Sister O’Malley in 1951.
She was a grade school teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Rose in Milwaukee, Wis.; St. Thomas in Peoria Heights, Ill.; St. Joseph in Tuskegee, Ala.; St. Joseph the Worker in Dubuque, Iowa; Corpus Christi in New York, N.Y.; Immaculate Conception in Chicago, Ill.; and Our Lady of Refuge in Bronx, N.Y.
In 1988, O’Malley moved to Cape Coral and served as administrative assistant for St. Andrew Catholic Church parish and school. In 1996, she began working in Bonita Springs as a director of migrant tutoring.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd. S. Receiving will be held from 9:3011 a.m.
