Robert ‘Bob’ Hugo Johnson
Robert “Bob” Hugo Johnson, 83, of Cape Coral, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his home after a long illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1926, in New Britain, Conn., the son of the late Hugo Johnson and Irene Dacey Johnson.
He was a graduate of New Britain High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Frankfurt, Germany, where he met his loving wife of 62 years, Aenne “Ann” Mueller Johnson.
He later graduated from the Hartford Institute of Accounting, becoming partner with Joseph M. Guinan. He was an avid fisherman. After his retirement in 1986, he moved to Cape Coral where he continued to enjoy his love of fishing.
He always maintained a presence about him that made all who met him immediately like him. He was also a long-standing member of the Elks Club and the American Legion. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving him is his wife, Ann Mueller Johnson of Cape Coral; children, Lynda Johnson Carter of Loudon, N.H., and Danny (Elizabeth) Johnson of East Haddam, Conn.; grandchildren, Joshua Carter and his partner, Rebecca Skane, Jonah (Therese) Carter, Matthew Johnson and Rachel Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ben Carter, Olivia Carter and Joshua Carter II; sister, Elizabeth Sawyer of Harwinton, Conn.; brother, Allan Johnson of Plainville, Conn.; favorite cousin, Ruth Orr of Bristol, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by a younger brother, William Johnson; and son, Douglas Johnson.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 655 East St., New Britain, Conn., followed by burial with full military honors at St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain.
