Marie DiMatteo Tutay

Marie DiMatteo Tutay, 74, of Cape Coral, completed her life journey Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Bronx, N.Y., to Nicola and Angelina DiMatteo.
She completed A. B. Davis High School in only three years, and then married John S. Tutay of Yonkers, N.Y., on June 18, 1961.
After her last child entered school, she began her professional career with the Florida Department of Driver’s Licenses and then the Lee County School Board as an accounting clerk in the payroll department. After 16 yrs of service, she retired.
She was a two-time breast cancer survivor.
She will be greatly missed by her “Honey,” Frank Castiglione of Cape Coral; children, Frank Tutay of Cape Coral, Dr. John A. Tutay of Tampa Bay and Ann-Marie Tutay of Fort Myers; brother, Peter DiMatteo of Cape Coral; most cherished friend, Sr. del Rey Waite of Chicago, Ill.; and countless friends of many years in New York and Florida.
She is preceeded in death by her husband of 25 years, John S. Tutay; numerous cousins and family members; and “grandchildren,” Alexander and Precious.
Viewings will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Metz Funeral Chapel. A Mass in celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Interment at Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers.
