Judith Fisher Schmidt

Judith Fisher Schmidt, of Cape Coral, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, surrounded by the love of her family. A North Carolina native, she was born Sept. 20, 1949.
A Florida resident for 22 years, she resided in Miami before retiring to Cape Coral with her husband in 1999. She was a well-respected voice in the community, a devoted servant to God and an active member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, where she had many friends who were precious to her.
She is survived by her husband, Craig Schmidt; daughter, Crystal Keating of Snowshoe, W.Va.; and sisters, Gilda Meitl and Susan Thornton of Charlotte, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward and Gretchen Cowan Fisher; and sisters, Kathryn Cline, Hilda Stewart and Ann Caudle of Charlotte, N.C.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice, especially Dawn Southard, for their excellent care and compassion, and also her dear friends, Debbie Mann, Debbie Ferbrache and Jan Guilkey, for their love and support.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Parkway.
