Dorothy Elizabeth Limberger

Dorothy Elizabeth Limberger, 89, of Cape Coral, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Ellington, Conn., the daughter of Henry and Lillian Welz of Rockville, Conn.

She was one of 13 children. Her sisters were Lillian Shea, Beatrice Kemble, Anna Marie Royce, Shirley Hyland and Eleanor Anderson, and her brothers were Henry Welz, William “Bill” Weiz, Walter Welz, Carl Welz, Robert “Bobby” Welz, Edward “Teddy” Welz and Alert “Butch” Welz.

She was the loving wife of John Limberger of Ellington, Conn. She lived most of her life in Ellington, Conn., and later retired with her husband to Cape Coral.

In reflection of her life, the legacy she leaves is that of a truly wonderful wife and mother. For those who knew her, she was the center of the family, sharing both good and bad times. She never failed to champion both her children and grandchildren. She was a worker at home, and when we reflect on her life we see the many wonderful things she accomplished. Until the end she continued to be self-taught, always learning and applying what she learned. She maintained great satisfaction from her religious beliefs as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and to the end remained faithful. For those who knew her, she had an adventuresome spirit with a love of nature. She taught her family fishing, species, knitting and sewing, and loved to tell stories. Most of all, she was never too busy to spend time with the people she loved. It is with great sorrow we experience her passing. We will miss you dear mother.

She leaves behind her children, Dorothy “Dottie” Limberger, Nancy and Mark Leigh, Betty and Sal Martelle, John Limberger and Joyce Limberger, Ann and Art Blake, Mark Limberger and Sandra Limberger; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for the immediate family will be held in Connecticut at a later date.
