Julius Morreal

Julius Morreal, 79, of Cape Coral, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at his home while under the loving care of Hope Hospice and surrounded by his family. He was born April 10, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a child of Marco and Theresa (Melluzzo) Morreale.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He was a 22-year member of the NYPD, retiring as a police sergeant. A resident of the Cape for the past 10 years, he previously lived on Pine Island for nine years.

He was a playwright who wrote six different plays, a reporter for the Pine Island Eagle and a freelance writer who wrote numerous articles for Fort Myers Magazine.

He is survived by his bride of 49 years, Jeanette (Maisonville); son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Pam; daughter, Mary Leigh Morreal Zizzamia; son-in-law, Vito; grandchildren, Samantha, Michael and Tommy, all of Cape Coral; and sister, Lillian of Staten Island, N.Y.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
