William Francis Lynch
William Francis Lynch, 84, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Miami VA Medical Center in the presence of his loving daughters, Susan Fischer and Melissa Durbin. He was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Schenectady, N.Y.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 serving three years in the 326th Glider Infantry Regiment and was deployed to Europe.
After proudly serving his country, he worked in the real estate finance industry for Lomas & Nettleton in Stamford, Conn. Following a move to South Florida, he devoted 22 years to the Lee County Selective Service Board.
He was an active member of the American Legion, VFW, 82nd Airborne, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his first wife, Mary Lynch; children, Michael, Susan, Lenora, Patricia, Melissa, Patrick and Timothy; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Dorothy; granddaughter, Katherine; and brothers, John, Thomas and Maurice.
A memorial service including a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Miami VA Medical Center.
A memorial fund as been established in his name for a nursing scholarship.
