Thomas Walter Raven
Thomas Walter Raven, 85, of Cape Coral and Kenosha, Wis., died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Hope Hospice House of Cape Coral. He was born March 4, 1924, in Detroit, the son of Walter and Marie (Yeoman) Raven, now deceased.
On Sept. 11, 1948, in Manitowoc, Wis., he married Alice Holsen.
He was in the United States Army during World War II. He saw combat in Europe while serving in the US Army 44th Division. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of master sergeant.
An electrician and a training director of IBEW Local 150, he was a member of the Elks Club 2596, VFW Post 1865, Danish Brotherhood Lodge 14, Knights of Columbus 973, American Legion 293 and Moose Lodge 286.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, the Green Bay Packers, Old Overholt and being with friends.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; son, Patrick (Mary) Raven of Milwaukee; daughter, Marialice (Walter) Hammond of Kenosha; grandchildren, Elizabeth Raven (Christopher) Juern of Colgate, Wis., Bryan (Kelly) Hammond of Paris, Wis., Thomas (Magdalene) Raven of Milwaukee and Michael Hammond of Kenosha, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Ellison, Mary Jane and Lily Juern; brother, Gerald (Maysel) Raven of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Jeanne Marie (Gerald) Rank of Bettendorf, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite O’Hearn; three brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon
Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha, Wis. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at noon Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc, Wis., with full military honors.
