Vina V. Paulson, 82, of Cape Coral died Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was born March 11, 1927, in Ashland, Wis., to Felix and Violet Penn. Although she was reared during the Great Depression, she always said she never felt depressed. She received her B.S. and M.S. from Northern Illinois University and taught school for more than 20 years in Illinois and Florida. Her passions included church, school, teaching and traveling. She married James Paulson in 1947.

She moved to Cape Coral in 1980 from Lombard, Ill. She was a member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church where she enjoyed volunteering. She belonged to several professional organizations, including P.E.O., where she was past president of the G.D. Chapter. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Education for outstanding involvement in the field of education.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James; four sons, James C. (Bev) of Del Mar, Calif., John Paulson of Cape Coral, Peter (Julie) Paulson of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Philip Paulson of Geneseo, Illl.; one brother, Robert Penn of Stevens Point, Wis.; and one sister, Patricia Zipperer of Green Bay, Wis.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 31, at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church.
