Morgan A. McDaniel

Morgan A. McDaniel, 92, of Cape Coral, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Hope Hospice. He was born in 1916 in Columbia, Miss., to Alvin and Josie McDaniel.

He graduated from Ben Franklin University in Washington, D.C.

He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during World War II. He began his career with the Pentagon in 1940. He retired after 34 years of service and moved to the Cape in 1970.

He was a member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. He was past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Local 1002.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah “Betty” McDaniel; sons, Morgan (Janet) McDaniel Jr. of New Bern, N.C., Steve McDaniel of Rhoadesville, Va., and Kenneth (Sarah Y.) McDaniel of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Alton (Faye) McDaniel of Columbia, Miss.; grandchildren, Duane, Sean and Kenneth; great-granddaughter, April; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Mary Alyce; and great-granddaughter, Crystal.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Metz Funeral Chapel, 1306 Lafayette St. Burial will immediately follow. The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time.
