Eileen Menton O’Brien

Eileen Menton O’Brien, 106, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009. She celebrated her 106th birthday Nov. 1, 2008.
She married her late husband, Vincent (Bunny) O’Brien, in June 1927. They resided and raised two of their three sons in Bayonne, N.J. She enjoyed the love of her family, which includes nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In her heyday, she was identified as being a flapper and professionally taught ballroom dancing. Her family will remember her as being a real party girl – always ready to have a good time with family and friends.
After she retired from Ma Bell, where she worked for many years as a telephone operator, she kept active socially with family and friends, her church groups, traveling and shopping.
She lived for many years with her son and his wife in Cape Coral, but resided for the past 10 years at Peridot Place/The Woodlands on Santa Barbara Boulevard.
Throughout her life she managed the hard times as well as the good times with grace and spunk. Although she was wheelchair-bound, her mental facilities were strong to the end. She was very feisty and was not shy about making her thoughts and wishes known.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Mary Ann O’Brien; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
