Charles ‘Wally’ Hechenberger
Charles “Wally” Hechenberger, 83, of Cape Coral, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank and Mary Rasmussen Hechenberger.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He started coming to the area in 1983, then moved here full-time in 1998 from Levittown, Pa. He was a member of the former Present Truth Ministries.
He enjoyed home improvements, tinkering with all types of equipment and boating. His family was proud of how he built his own home.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 39 years, Mabel Hechenberger; children, Wallace J. Hechenberger, Brad P. Hechenberger, Darlene Compton and Bonnie Holmes; grandchildren, David, Monica, Christopher, Loraine, Tracy, Cindy, Lee, Sean and Jaimee; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kirsten, Nicholas, Kami and Madison; and sisters, Grace Blanton and Charlotte Field.
Visitation will be held from noon Friday until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road.
