Rigoberto Martinez
Rigoberto Martinez, 90, of Cape Coral, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009. He was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Matanzas, Cuba, to Armando and Fermina Martinez.
He moved from Cuba to Chicago, then to Miami Beach and then to Cape Coral, where he resided since 2000. When he lived in Cuba, he was active in politics and enjoyed riding horses, overseeing his family farm, dancing and being a Casanova.
He is survived by his loving family, including children, Armando (Diane) Martinez of Cape Coral and Maria Elena (Louis) Cano of Burr Ridge, Ill.; and siblings, Zenaida Rodriguez, Julio Martinez and Nancy Valdivieso.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amada, in October 2007.
Visitation will be held from noon until the funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cape Coral Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road. Entombment to follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
