Chalmer L. Irvin Jr.

Chalmer L. Irvin Jr., 75, of North Fort Myers, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2009. He was born May 30, 1933, in Tyrone, Pa., to Chalmer and Verna (Forcey) Irvin.

He graduated from Tyrone High School and attended Lancaster Trade School until being drafted into the United States Army.

He served during the Korean War.

A resident of North Fort Myers since 1961, he was a longtime member of the North Fort Myers High School Quarterback Club and a founding member of the Southwest Florida Sportsman’s Association. A general contractor by trade, he was well known throughout the building industry of Southwest Florida.

He is survived by his loving family, including wife, Joyce Irvin; daughter, Julie (Clarence) Weinstock; son, Michael (Johnna) Irvin; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Rodney Irvin of North Fort Myers and James Irvin of Winter Haven; one niece; and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at North Fort Myers Methodist Church, 81 Pondella Road, North Fort Myers. His final journey will be in Tyrone, Pa., at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory be made to a favorite animal shelter given his love for animals.
