James William Stokes
James William Stokes, 64, of Cape Coral, died Thursday, March 12, 2009. He was born March 29, 1944, at the family home in Freeport, Pa., to James and Genevieve (nee Kropp) Stokes.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.
He has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He enjoyed spending time riding his motorcycle and bicycle.
He is survived by his loving family, including his father, James H. Stokes of Cape Coral; children, Keith William Stokes of Indian Head, Md., and Kathy (Andrew) Stephen of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Stefanie, Christopher, Kenneth, Zoe and Avery; great-granddaughter, Sophia; nephew, James Sanford Jr.; niece, Dawn Sanford; great-nephews, James Sanford III and Justin Sanford; and great-niece, Ashley Sanford.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve Stokes; and sister, Dolores Sanford.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road.
The family suggests donations be made to the National Kidney Association or the Veterans Association.
