Elaine Barbara Martin
Elaine Barbara (nee: Jennings) Martin, 82, of Cape Coral passed away on March 11, 2009 at her home surrounded by loving family, with the support of Hope Hospice. Elaine was born in Lansing, MI on April 14, 1926 to the late Clayton and June Jennings. She lived in East Lansing through her high school years. She became a licensed pilot shortly after graduation and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Lansing.
She graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, VA in 1946, enrolled at Michigan State University School of Communications, and graduated in 1948. She married Robert E. Martin on December 18, 1948, in Lansing. Years later, after raising a family of four daughters, she went back to M.S.U. for a master’s degree in Instructional TV Production. Finishing in 1978, she spent several years in this field at M.S.U.
They lived in Lansing until 1991 when they moved to Cape Coral and also established a summer home in Traverse City, MI.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert; daughters, Kay (John) Rinck of Eaton Rapids, MI, Carol (Dana) McElwain of Burbank, CA, Judy (Douglas) Bowerman of Reseda, CA, and Janice Martin of Silver Springs, FL; five grandchildren; Also surviving are her brother, Dean (Pat) Jennings of Lansing, MI; sister, Beverly Vollmar of Williamston, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
