Joseph Laverne Shepard Sr.
Joseph Laverne Shepard Sr., 89, of Cape Coral, formerly of Glen Ellyn , Ill., died Friday, March 6, 2009. He was born June 8, 1919.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He moved to Cape Coral after working 27 years for the Mercury Division of Ford Motor Co. He lived in Cape Coral for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Velma; sons, William Shepard of Independence, Mo., and John (Patty) Shepard of Batavia, Ill.; grandsons, Greg Shepard of Alva, Fla., and Joseph (Paula) A. Shepard of Bolivar, Mo.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; brother, Harold (Helen) Shepard of Cape Coral; sister, Gertrude McGinness of Lake Crystal, Minn.; and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Jr., and daughter-in law Wilma of Oazrk, Mo.; and son William Shepard’s wife.
