Doris E. Loughren (Goodrich)
Doris E. Loughren (Goodrich), 75, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, after a lengthy illness at home surrounded by her loving children under the fantastic care of Hope Hospice. She was born Nov. 8, 1933, to Ernest and Bernice Goodrich in Norfolk, New York.
She attended Norwood High School in New York and graduated in 1952. She married James W. Loughen in 1952, who passed away in 1985. The couple operated a pub in New York, called Jims Place, for many years.
They relocated to Cape Coral in 1978. She worked at several area restaurants until finding a home at Cape Coral Hospital. She worked there until her retirement in 2002 due to ill health.
She was well known as the “Cookie Lady” and for her quick wit. She will be truly missed by her family and all who were lucky enough to get to know her.
She leaves behind her loving children, James, Kathy James (Loughren), Michael, Timothy and Daniel; sisters, Barbara Monette and Janet Prue; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Muriel Chambers, Carol Clark, Wendell Goodrich and Beverly Hoxie.
A service of remembrance will be held from 6-6:30 p.m. Friday at Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway E. The family will receive visitors after the service until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice in her name.
