Lucy Pescatrice Flash, 92, of Cape Coral Florida died peacefully Sunday evening Feb. 1, 2009. “Momma Lucy” was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Ferdinando and Catherine Rossi and was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Pescatrice, in 1980, and her second husband, John Patrick Flash in 2008.

She graduated from West High School in Cleveland in 1935. She married Joseph Pescatrice on June 10, 1939, and together they raised three children prior to retiring to Cape Coral in 1973. They were very active volunteers at the Kiwanis Thrift Store and thoroughly enjoyed golfing and square dancing around Lee County.

After the death of her first husband, she married John Patrick Flash on April 28, 1984. They spent 24 happy years together traveling, spending time with family and friends and playing cards.

As true “snowbirds,” they spent time in both in Parma, Ohio, and Cape Coral for several years, finally coming to roost in Florida a few years ago.

She was known throughout communities in which she resided for her generous and loving spirit and beautiful smile. Everyone who came in contact with her immediately understood the phrase “I Love Lucy” and bonded with her because of her magnetic personality and true love of everybody. She never met a person she did not like and will leave a large gap in many hearts.

She was the beloved mother of Joseph C. (Michelle) Pescatrice, Ann Marie (John) Dusek, Mary Kay (Michael) Maher, Patrick (Sally) Flash, Denis (Paulette) Flash; grandmother of John, David, Paul (Julie), Mark (Sintia), John, Joseph (Heather), James, Cristina (Tyson), Christopher, Kevin, Carly, Kimberly (Michael), Lindsey and Jessica (Jason); great-grandmother of Brittany, Chelsea, Anna, Jessica, Rebecca, John, Abigail, Tyler, Andrew and Enzo.

The family will receive friends at the Metz Funeral Home on Lafayette Street in Cape Coral on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Community at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, with burial to follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
