Harold Ray Winters

Harold Ray Winters, 81, of St. James City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. He was born April 27, 1927, in Van Wert, Ohio, a child of James and Goldie (Waldron) Winters.

He and his wife have been living in Florida for the past seven years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

While living in Ohio, he was employed for 21 years for Chrysler. He had previously served as the fire chief for the Magnavox Manufacturing plant and was a fireman for the city of Van Wert.

He was a member of the American Legion in Van Wert, Ohio, and in St. James City.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Marjorie Louise (Keipper) Winters; sons, Stephen R. Winters of Atlanta, Ga., Roger P. (Dinah) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dann A. Winters of Greeley, Colo., and Bruce A. (Julie) Winters of St. James City; sisters, Esther Marie Druckemiller and Virginia Louise Stevens, both of Van Wert, Ohio; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at the American Legion in St. James City. Burial will take place at a later date in the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, Ohio.
