Sgt. Maj. Francis X. Roch
Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Francis X. Roch, 90, of Cape Coral, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2009. He was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Holyoke, Mass., to the his parents Lawrence and Emma Roch.
He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1936 and joined the U.S. Army in 1941. He served his country honorably and bravely for more than 30 years, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
He moved to Cape Coral in 1989 from Granby, Mass. He was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Katharina; sons, John J. Roch of Cornwall, Conn., and Peter (Kellie-Marie) Roch of Cape Coral; and grandson, Nicholas.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church.
