Margaret A. Godsea
Margaret A. Godsea, 61, died peacefully in her sleep Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Hope Hospice. She was born in Memphis, Tenn., to J. Perry and Inez Davis.
She graduated a year early from Somerville High School and went on to attend Murray State University in Kentucky, where she majored in math and chemistry and was a member of the AOII sorority.
Her careers in IT led her from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. to Days Inn and on to director at Coca-Cola as well as CIO at Minute Maid and AFC Enterprises. She was well respected in the business world and was named one of the Top 10 Women in Technology in Houston and Atlanta. Her career allowed her to travel worldwide.
She had a strong faith in God with an optimistic view that she could accomplish or empower people to do anything. She had a great passion for life, family, music, dancing, friends and politics. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother with many friends around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bob; daughter, Stephanie Godsea and Nelson Gonzalez of Miami Beach; son, Kevin and wife, Anne; granddaughter, Laura; grandson, Will, who is soon to be delivered in Charleston, S.C.; parents, J. Perry and Inez Davis of Fort Myers; and sister, Sheila (Randy) Butler and their daughter, Ashley, and son, Kyle, of Memphis, Tenn.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Cape Coral United Methodist Church.
