Josephine Ann Mietus-Young
Josephine Ann Mietus-Young, 80, of Cape Coral, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. She was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Barnesboro, Pa., to the late John and Catherine Mietus.
She graduated from Spangler High School in 1947. She married John S. Young in 1958, and they lived together in Bethesda, Md., before relocating to Cape Coral in 2006. Recently she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband.
She was a hairdresser at Woodward & Lothrop Charles of the Ritz in Washington, D.C., Lois Beauthy Salon in Bethesda, Md., and the Hair Cuttery in Bethesda, Md., until her retirement in 1993.
She was an active member of Holy Cross Church in Kensington, Md., and the Luxmanor Garden Club in Bethesda, Md., for many years. She enjoyed traveling, lived in Turkey and took many trips around Europe with her husband in her lifetime.
At the age of 70, she attended the Jagiellonian University, located in Krakow, Poland. She also was well-versed in Slavic languages. She also spoke Turkish.
She is also survived by daughters, Susan Young of Arlington, Va., and Natasha Haynes of Arnold, Mo.; and granddaughters, Emma and Barbara Haynes of Arnold, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Fuller Cape Coral Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
