Rose Marie (nee Barbaglia) Rakovich
Rose Marie (nee Barbaglia) Rakovich, 84, of Cape Coral, and formerly of Michigan, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the home of her son in Cape Coral. Born Aug. 30, 1923, in Detroit, she was the daughter of Florence (nee Caloia) Barbaglia and John Barbaglia, now deceased.
In addition to being a homemaker, she had also been employed for many years as an administrative assistant for the city of Detroit, before retiring with her husband to Cape Coral in 1976. She was also a 34-year survivor of breast cancer and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church in Cape Coral.
She was united in marriage Dec. 1, 1945, to her husband of 62 years, Joseph, who survives her. In addition, she is survived by her sons, Richard S. (Jennifer) of South Carolina, and Robert J. and Ron (Mary), both of Cape Coral; grandchildren, Amanda, Alexandra, Alyssa, Erika, Jason, Jennifer and Stephen; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, John “Bud” Barbaglia and Phyllis Henning Mamula.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial Mass on Thursday at noon at St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, at 1922 S.W. 20th Ave. Friends may call starting at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be held privately in Michigan by her family at a later date.
