Fatal motorcycle crash at Treeline Avenue/Jetport Loop intersection
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle/car crash at the intersection of Treeline Avenue and Jetport Loop in Fort Myers on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the report, an 18-year-old male from Lehigh Acres was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle when he crashed into a 2005 Honda being driven by a 68-year-old woman from Fort Myers at just past 2 p.m. The male motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene and the female car driver was taken to an area hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
FHP provided the following synopsis of the crash:
Vehicle 1 (motorcycle) was traveling south on Treeline Avenue at a high rate of speed, approaching Jetport Loop.
Vehicle 2 was traveling north on Treeline Avenue, attempting to make a left turn onto Jetport Loop.
The front of Vehicle 1 collided with Vehicle 2.
Driver 1 was pronounced deceased on scene.
Driver 2 sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
