Cornhole Tournament and Spirit Day at Gator Mike’s to benefit Oasis schools
The community is invited to participate in the second annual Cornhole Tournament and Spirit Day at Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park this Saturday.
Cape Coral Municipal Charter School Foundation Vice President Jen-Hope Belis said the family-friendly event has changed over the years from a concert and car show to a golf outing and now a cornhole tournament. Although the event has changed, the name Rally has remained in the name.
The tournament, which is $60 per two-member team begins at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7. There is a first place – $200 – and second place – $100 – cash prize for the cornhole tournament.
Registration includes one bracket of competition with 60 teams, double-elimination, and boards and bags provided. The suggested age of each player is 14 and older.
The Rally and Family Fun Day have also merged into one event, now featuring performances from all four schools promoting their spring musicals at the Rally on the Boards. The school performances begin at 1 p.m.
This year the event has moved to Gator Mike’s, at 35 N.E. Pine Island Road, as it is a larger venue and can accommodate more attendees.
The event also will feature booths from some of the school clubs.
Those who do not wish to participate in the tournament, but still want to support the school can do so by playing at Gator Mike’s, or eating at Mellow Mushroom. Families will receive a 15% discount if they mention Oasis and a percentage of the proceeds will go back to the foundation.
The proceeds from the event will support foundation programs including grants, scholarships, and the Gala.
