Classic Car Fest set for Saturday
Cape Coral’s harborer of history is bringing back another season of classic rides and good times.
The Cape Coral Museum of History will host its first Classic Car Fest of the new season this Saturday, coinciding with Small Business Saturday. The free-and-open-to-the-public event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring food, music, vendors, some of the city’s sweetest rides, and more.
“This is the third season for our Classic Car Fest, and we have incorporated Small Business Saturday each year,” said museum Executive Director Janel Trull. “The museum has highlighted Small Business Saturday for many years now, prompting people to forgo the big box stores and instead support small business. By hosting a festival on Small Business Saturday, we are not only promoting our own ‘small business,’ but local craft vendors and artisans as well.”
Trull said the museum’s November Classic Car Fest is usually its largest,
“It gives families a reason to get out of the house over the holiday weekend, enjoy the beautiful weather, gaze at fabulous vehicles, tour the museum and shop,” she said.
The event encourages attendees to bring the whole family to enjoy a morning of classic vehicles, music, food trucks, merchant vendor village, hands-on activities, and free museum tours.
With Cape Coral full of small businesses, Trull said shopping small can allow for hidden treasures to be found, unique items to be sourced, and boosts those who live, work, and play right here in the Cape.
“Supporting small businesses gives you the opportunity to find unique handmade gifts that are often not available at the larger, big-box retailers,” she said. “Local entrepreneurs and artisans are part of your community and supporting them help keeps the money local. These relationships are crucial to fostering local character and help make Cape Coral a vibrant and During the event, the museum is open to the public for free so visitors can view its newest temporary exhibit “Ohm Sweet Ohm: How a Handshake Brought Power to the Cape” which highlights the story of LCEC and its 85 year history.
“There is always great music, delicious food, and all in all just a fun time,” Trull added.
Don’t forget to bring an unwrapped toy for the Cape Coral Police Department toy drive, or some canned food for the museum’s holiday food drive to help those in need this season. Classic vehicle entry is $10 per show. To register a vehicle, sign up online by visiting capecoralmuseum.org, or contact Nancy Caputo at 847-977-0777 to pay at the gate.
The museum is at 544 Cultural Park Blvd. The next Classic Car Fest is Jan 24.
