2 min read

This Thursday, May 1, the Southwest Florida Community Breakfast will hold its annual event with two-time People’s Choice Awards winner Kirk Cameron as the keynote speaker.

Cameron is known by millions as Mike Seaver from the 1980s sit-com “Growing Pains.” Since then, he has invested his time and energy into faith and family-focused films, television shows and live events, including “Left Behind,” “Monumental,” “The Way of the Master” and “Fireproof,” which inspired the best-selling book “The Love Dare.”

In 2022, Cameron produced “Lifemark,” a film about the value of life and the beauty of adoption.

Currently, Cameron hosts the weekly talk show “Take-aways with Kirk Cameron,” and the “American Campfire Revival” podcast.

He has hosted hundreds of live events focused on marriage, family and parenting, and he recently authored “As You Grow,” a children’s book that teaches Biblical principles and character. Cameron and his wife, Chelsea Cameron, host an all-expenses-paid summer camp for terminally ill children and their families called Camp Firefly.

The annual event is expected to draw over 2,000 attendees to Hammond Stadium at the Lee Health Sports Complex and is held on the National Day of Prayer. Over 2 million people participate in the special day annually, and Fort Myers has honored it each year since 1988, except 2021.

Over three dozen local businesses and organizations are sponsoring the Community Prayer Breakfast. Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast, Inc. organizes the annual event and is led by board members Carl Barraco, Ron Inge, John Noland, Gary Trippe, Richard Akin, Ashley Hull and Matt Roepstorff.

The Lee Health Sports Complex at 14100 Six Mile Cypress Parkway in south Fort Myers. The breakfast starts at 6 a.m. with the program at 7 a.m.
