Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, according to this morning’s flash report from the city of Cape Coral Emergency Operations Center, citing National Hurricane Center information.
“This continues to be a historic storm from the Tampa Bay regions southward to Charlotte,” the report states.
A hurricane warning remains in effect for this area and a storm surge warning remains in effect for the entire coast except for Levy County.
Storm surge in Lee County is projected at a life-threatening 8-12 feet with a flood watch is also in effect.
In a separate advisory, the city of Cape Coral also reported that the city is on a tornado watch, as is much of Lee and Charlotte counties.
Impacts are expected to be felt this afternoon and continuing as late as Thursday evening, the report states, citing National Hurricane Center information.
