CRA to set public parking fees at The Cove
The Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency is expected to set the fees Wednesday for the public spaces within the parking garage at The Cove.
According to the resolution, the parking garage “shall contain 125 parking spaces on the first and second levels/floors in the garage, which shall be for the benefit of the general public in perpetuity.”
It further states that “it has been determined that a fee-based parking system will assist in managing demand for those garage parking spaces by incentivizing turnover within the public parking garage area.”
The recommended public parking rates include a free period and a maximum amount.
According to the resolution, the free period is for one hour between 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is free for hour one, $3 for the second hour, $1 for the third hour and $1 for every subsequent hour. The maximum amount is $20.
The second is for two hours between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The first and second hour would be free, followed by $4 for the third hour and $1 for every subsequent hour. The maximum amount is $20.
If someone parked from 4 to 10 p.m. the first hour would be free from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by $3 for hour 5 to 6 p.m. and then $4 from 6 to 10 p.m. for a total of $7 for 6 hours.
An example on the presentation is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. it would be free parking. From 9 to 10 p.m. it is $4 an hour for parking. From 10 p.m. to 10 a.m., a total of 12 hours, is $12. For $15 hours of parking, it would be $16.
The proposed special event parking would be $10 to $20.
The presentation highlights three different payments options – mobile device by scanning a QR code on a ticket, automatic pay station located in The Cove at 47th Courtyard and payment through the exit terminal.
The CRA Commission’s agenda also includes a second and final CRA budget amendment for fiscal year 2024. The budget would be amended from $5,962,679 to $6,214,047, a 4.22% increase.
There also are numerous special event sponsorship application approvals for the Holiday Festival of Lights; the 40th annual Cape Coral Art Festival and Market Place; 7th annual Chili Cook Off; 7th annual Pride Cape Coral; Concert in the Park; Veterans Day Parade; Music & Art Fusion Walk; Holiday Boat Along and New Year’s Eve Celebration.
The commissioners will also take a vote on the resolution to approve staffing cost proposal with Stantec Consulting Services for the “professional consulting services for the design of access management, curbing, irrigation, landscaping and address deficiencies for the medians and construction assistance along Palm Tree Boulevard from the intersection of Palm Tree Boulevard and Country Club Boulevard to the intersection of Wildwood Parkway and Country Club Boulevard.” The proposal is for $281,473.
