Oasis Charter Schools to vote on policy updates
The city of Cape Coral’s Oasis Charter Schools system has a number of policy updates up for consideration.
Superintendent Jacquelin Collins said the changes to the NEOLA policies are just updates as state statutes change.
NEOLA is a vendor source that “provides school district with a complete service for developing and updating Board Bylaws and Policies.”
“NEOLA makes the updates, and I insert them into existing policies,” she said
Collins said one new policy was presented by NEOLA, but it addressed security and crime statistics for post-secondary schools.
“It did not apply to a K-12 system, so I rejected the new policy,” Collins said.
All of the polices presented for adoption include some type of update – slight changes to wording, added wording, or adding a new statute number that they address.
“Generally, these polices had small updates. Nothing major changed in this version,” she said.
The policies range from conflicts of interest, to instructional materials programs, religion in curriculum, reporting student progress and transportation.
“These policy updates are pretty boring, there is nothing major to report,” Collins said.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 5:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at Oasis Elementary North, 2817 S.W. 3rd Lane, Cape Coral. The meeting will be streamed on Channel 98 for those wishing to watch.
