Transport of oversized load to affect traffic Wednesday along Pine Island Road, Bayshore Road

The Florida Highway Patrol has issued an alert concerning the transport of an “over dimensional load” that will impact traffic along Pine Island Road and Bayshore Road scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28.

FHP will escort the vehicle transporting a transformer from 8100 Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers starting at 9 a.m. to its destination at 2406 S.W. 4th St., in Cape Coral. Arrival time in the Cape is set for 4 p.m.

Edwards Moving & Rigging of Shelbyville, Kentucky, is handling the move of the transformer, which, according to the FHP alert, measures 19 feet, 1 inch high, 105 feet long and 13 feet wide, with a gross weight of 658,448 pounds.

According to the FHP report, the transport vehicle will turn right off of Pine Island Road onto Chiquita Boulevard, S., in Cape Coral, and then turn left onto Southwest 4th Street.

In addition to law enforcement escort, safety apparatus accompanying the transport vehicle includes wide-load signs and bucket trucks.
