Cape Council to set fees for Lake Kennedy Racquet Center

Cape Coral City Council is expected to set the fees for the Lake Kennedy Racquet Center Wednesday with proposed resident memberships ranging from $100 a year for juniors to $500 for a household family.

According to the fee schedule as proposed, Cape Coral residents will need to provide a valid driver’s license with a city ZIP code, property tax statement and valid school identification for the discounted memberships.

The fee for individuals are proposed at $250 for an annual membership, $125 for a semi-annual membership and $25 monthly. The fee for a household couple is $350 annually, $175 semi-annually and $35 for a monthly membership. A household family membership is $500 annually, $250 semi-annually and $50 monthly. Junior memberships are $100 annually.

The non-Cape Coral resident initiation fees is proposed at $100 annually, and $50 semi-annually and monthly.

Membership benefits include court reservations, free paddle and racquet rental, one guest pass per month, 10% discount at the pro-shop excluding sale or promotional pricing items and food and beverage purchases.

The membership rates for clinics and camps range from $15 to $30.

The tournaments and third-party event rental rates start at $10 per hour and increase depending on the category to $25 per hour. Pickleball courts would need to be rented in multiples of eight for a minimum of eight hours per day, while tennis courts must be rented in multiples of six for a minimum of eight hours per day.

For camps, pickleball courts would need to be rented in multiples of four for a minimum of four hours a day and tennis courts must be rented in multiples of two for a minimum of four hours per day.

The fees also include equipment – ball serving machines $10 per hour; ball caddies $5 per hour; paddle rental $10 per day, $0 for members and racquet rental $10 per day or $0 for members.

To rent the lawn and picnic area the fee is proposed at $250 per hour for a three-hour minimum.

If additional staffing is needed during operating hours, it is $25 an hour and outside of operating hours it is $35 an hour.

The Wednesday, July 24, Council meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. in City Council chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.
