A Cape Coral man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Burnt Store Road in Charlotte County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the Cape man, 45, was driving a pick-up truck south on Burnt Store Road (County Road 765) at Cape Horn Boulevard in the left lane at around 4:23 p.m. when the accident occurred.

The FHP reported that the driver failed to maintain control of the pickup which travelled off the roadway to the right, rotated, collided with a light pole, overturned and collided with a tree.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

FHP reported that the accident remains under investigation.
