Cummings responds to former manager’s allegations
Cape Coral City Councilmember Patty Cummings has issued a statement to the residents in the wake of allegations made by former city manager Rob Hernandez:
Dear residents,
I want to take a moment to address the recent news about a possible lawsuit from our former city manager Rob Hernandez against the council. As you may be aware, this is a sensitive and complicated matter, but I want to assure you that the city is working diligently to resolve this issue. The statements that Rob Hernandez used against me are false! Defaming my name I take very seriously.
I will work diligently to ensure that the truth is revealed and justice is served.
To me it gives the appearance of a shake down.
While I cannot comment on the specifics of the case, I want to emphasize that our city remains committed to transparency and accountability in all aspects of our operations. I understand that you place your trust in me as your elected official and I take that responsibility very seriously.
In the meantime, I appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this process. I am committed to keeping you informed as much as possible within the bounds of the legal process. I understand that some of you may be worried about how this possible lawsuit will affect the city’s operation. Let me assure you that our team is working tirelessly to ensure that we continue to deliver the services you need and deserve. We have appointed an interim city manager who is working closely with council to ensure that all essential services are being provided to our residents. We remain dedicated to making Cape Coral a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
We urge all citizens to remain calm and patient as we work to resolve this issue. I assure you that we are doing everything in our power to make sure that this situation does not affect our commitment to you, our beloved residents.
In conclusion, I will continue to serve you with honesty, transparency, integrity, and will not let false accusations deter me from our mission of building a strong and vibrant community.
