A Cape Coral woman was arrested Tuesday for hitting a bicyclist with her vehicle and leaving the scene.

Bailey Edoff-Ingersoll, 24, was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury after striking a person riding their bike with her silver Kia near the 1100-Block of Cultural Park Boulevard South shortly after 8:45 a.m.

Cape Coral Police Department officers said multiple callers reported a female driver hit a bicyclist and left the accident scene without stopping, rendering aid, or calling 9-1-1.

When officers arrived, the victim was being treated for their injuries by Lee County Emergency Medical Services.

“The victim sustained several injuries from the collision and was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital as a trauma alert,” CCPD officials stated.

The victim was wearing a helmet and had a video camera attached during the accident, CCPD said.

“The footage showed the incident leading up to the crash and an identifiable vehicle description,” officials stated.

The responding officer who worked the initial accident coordinated with CCPD’s Forensics, Crime Analyst and Records Unit to help identify the suspect vehicle through collaborative investigative efforts.

It was eventually determined that Edoff-Ingersoll was at the Cape Coral Police Department before the crash to report a separate accident that occurred several days prior.

A follow-up investigation revealed a silver in color Kia with significant windshield, front right bumper, and right front fender damages consistent with the manner of the new collision at Edoff-Ingersoll’s home. Edoff-Ingersoll who admitted to striking the bicyclist and leaving the accident scene, officials said.

Edoff-Ingersoll was transported to Lee County Jail and has bond set at $2,500. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 9.
