After losing two meetings because of Hurricane Ian, Cape Coral City Council will hold a special meeting Wednesday to deal of some of the business backlog.

The session will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will include the reintroduction of a dozen ordinances and resolutions that had been introduced before the storm interrupted the consideration process. If again carried forward, public hearings will be set for the meeting on Nov. 2, the last full meeting for Council before the General Election.

The elected board also will also get an update on the city’s recovery from Hurricane Ian.

In other new business:

• Council will consider an Interlocal Agreement between the city and the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency to fund the commission of a sculpture to be located in Founders Park as well as whether to place artwork on concrete enclosures located in parking lots within the CRA district.

The agreement carries a price tag of $59,000. The public art will increase the cultural offerings in the CRA district, supporters say.

• Council will vote to terminate the Community Development Block Grant Subrecipient Agreement between the city and Catalyst Community Capital.

The city entered into an agreement with Catalyst Community Capital in the amount of $106,202 for the acquisition of property for the development of a multi-family project at 105-123 Civitas Court. The company has pulled out of the project and is requesting termination of the agreement.

The city council schedule could become pretty busy. A regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 4:30 p.m. The city council would like to add a special meeting before that at 3 p.m. in conference room 220A.

Agenda topics for the special meeting are expected to be evaluations and pay increases to staff, the city attorney and city auditor.

The following day, on Thursday, Oct. 27, the city manager has proposed a 9 a.m. council workshop.

Council meets in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.
