Hurricane Ian swept away dozens of homes and businesses on Fort Myers Beach including much of Times Square as well as longstanding businesses such as Shucker’s at the Gulfshore, Pierside Grill & Famous Blowfish Bar, The Beach Bar, the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, Sea Gypsy Inn and severely damaged many others.
There were reports of loss of life. Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno reported 21 lives were lost in Lee County due to Hurricane Ian as of Friday.
