The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools has received over 4,300 nominations representing 1,600 educators in Lee County for the prestigious Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Awards. Teachers nominated will be announced this week and can then apply for the opportunity to go through the rigorous process to become a Golden Apple Teacher.

The Golden Apple Teacher Program allows students and members of the community to show their appreciation for educators who have made a difference and a lasting impact on their lives.

The 70 Teachers of Distinction, 24 finalists, and 6 recipients will be honored and celebrated at the 36th Annual Banquet on Friday, April 14, at the Caloosa Sound Convention & Amphitheatre.

The Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program was founded and developed by the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools over 35 years ago and has become a model for other communities nationwide. The program honors educators in Lee County Schools for their dedication, excellence and commitment to education. Nominated by peers, students and community leaders, then participating in a rigorous selection process, it is a distinct honor to receive this award.

Since it’s inception, the program has honored over 200 teachers with this award.

The Foundation for Lee County Schools is a private, 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to enhance and enrich the quality of public education in Lee County for students and educators.

Programs are made possible through corporate, individual, and educational partnerships.
