Cape man involved in fatal crash on U.S. 41 in Charlotte County
A Cape Coral man was involved in two-vehicle accident Thursday evening that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old Punta Gorda woman.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, at 5:25 p.m., the woman was driving a sedan south on U.S. 41, south of Oil Well Road in Charlotte County, when she attempted to change from the left lane of the roadway into the right lane, in front of a sedan driven by the 20-year-old Cape man.
The Cape man’s car hit the rear of the woman’s car. The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was injured and transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.
According to the FHP, the accident remains under investigation.
