Two charged with armed robbery in arcade heist
Cape Coral police have made two arrests in connection with an armed robbery at a city arcade.
Jwyanza Quadaar Chito, 34, and Lenny Myers, 45, both of 223 Cultural Park Blvd. were each charged with robbery with a firearm.
The investigation began Thursday after police were called about an armed robbery in progress at the White Sands Arcade at 2710 Del Prado Blvd S.
Officers responding to the 10:52 a.m. call were told that two men had entered the business and demanded money from an employee.
Both men fled before the officers’ arrival but descriptions were provided.
One of the males was described as wearing all-black clothing with dreadlocks. He was later identified as Chito, police said. The second male was described as wearing all grey clothing and was bald. This male was later identified as Myers.
According to the store employee, two men had entered the business and the one police identified as Chito brandished a Glock handgun at the store employee and demanded money. Approximately $2,500 in cash was placed inside of a pillowcase before both exited the business.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. officers responded to Coral Palace Arcade at 1424 Cape Coral Parkway East and met there with a store employee who stated that around 10:30 a.m. a customer alerted the employee that the business was possibly about to be robbed.
Th patron told the employee that just before he entered, he saw two men dressed in dark-colored clothing and wearing masks in the parking lot. The store employee quickly locked the doors and the men described left the parking lot.
“Video surveillance from this location was able to help Major Crimes Detectives obtain a vehicle description,” a release from the CCPD states.
The men matched the description of Chito and Myers, police said.
“After a lengthy investigation and with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Myers Police Department both Mr. Chito and Mr. Myers were located by utilizing investigative techniques,” the release states. “The handgun used in the commission of the crime was also recovered.”
Chito and Myers were arrested and subsequently transported to Lee County Jail early this morning.
Chito also was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of robbery with weapon.
