Cape man receives two life sentences for child sexual battery
A Cape Coral man received two life sentences for child sexual abuse.
Benjamin Perez Rodriguez, 64, of Cape Coral, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to life in prison on each count, sexual battery, child less than 12 years of age, and lewd or lascivious molestation.
He was found guilty in May following a Lee County trial.
The case began in 2019, after the child victim told a parent they had been sexually abused by Rodriguez. Their parent contacted the Cape Coral Police Department and their investigation led to a warrant for Rodriguez’s arrest.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office assisted with apprehending and transporting Rodriguez to Florida from Puerto Rico.
Assistant State Attorney Clark Cary prosecuted the case.
